Introduction

Welcome to PPG Careers application system (“PPG Careers”). Your relationship with PPG starts here and we want to make sure that, as with other relationships, also this one is based on trust. We know that you can only trust us if you know that your personal information we receive from you is handled with care. By reading this Statement you will learn how PPG Industries uses and protects your personal information if you chose to apply for a job at PPG via PPG Careers.

Who collects your personal information

PPG industries, Inc., its affiliates and subsidiaries are ultimately responsible for collection of your personal information. However, in majority of cases, the PPG entity which posts a respective job offer to which you reply collecting and processing your personal information that you provide to us. It may then be shared with other PPG entities involved in the recruitment process, as described below. If you would like to know more, please contact us via PPG Privacy Portal.

Personal Information we collect

We collect only the types of personal information about you that are strictly necessary to administer recruitment. Without this information, we might not be able to perform the selection process. Further details of the personal information we collect and where we get it from are set out in the Schedule 1 “Categories of Personal Information” below.

Please note that providing your personal information to us is voluntary, but without this information, PPG may not be able to proceed with your application.

By submitting your application you guarantee that all the information provided to PPG is accurate, updated, complete and truthful. In the event of changes to this information, you must notify PPG so it becomes aware of such changes and makes necessary adjustments to their databases. To do that, you can access your profile on PPG Careers application.

Please consult privacy statements of third parties from whom we may receive your personal information to see in what circumstances they may share your personal information with third parties and what choices and rights you have.

Why we collect your personal information

PPG uses PPG Careers globally to conduct some of its talent management activities and to provide job opportunities in the country you are about to apply as well as other countries and regions.  

Further details about how we collect your personal information and for what purpose we use it are set out in the Schedule 2 “Purposes for which we use Personal Information”.

We may use your sensitive information such as health data, biometric information (including disability), geolocation and personal characteristics such as race, ethnicity and gender for the purposes listed in Schedule 3 “Purposes for which we use Sensitive Personal Information”.

We may also convert your personal information into statistical or aggregated form to better protect your privacy, or so that you are not identified or identifiable from it. We may use it to conduct research and analysis, including to produce statistical research and reports.

We may also collect or process your personal information for other purposes than those mentioned in this Statement, as otherwise described to you via in-time notice at or before the moment when we collect your information.

When we share your personal information and with whom

Except as noted herein, we do not sell or share your personal information with any person or entity outside of PPG.

We may share your personal information with third parties at your direction or with other third parties as follows:

PPG group entities may be recipients of your personal information for the purpose of general workforce management, line management, authorizations/approvals from relevant decision makers, reporting and where systems and services are provided on a shared basis. For examples, your contact details, photograph and other data may be available to colleagues throughout the group. Please note that access rights between members of the PPG group are limited and granted on a need know basis, depending on job functions and roles.

Processor and service providers are sometimes engaged by PPG to assist us with their services and may, in course of their engagement and according to contractual terms, receive, or otherwise have access to, your personal information. These processors and service providers include but are not limited to: (i) outsourced payroll providers; (ii) HR and marketing service providers; (iii) IT systems and software maintenance, backup and hosting providers, including PPG’s Career application provider.

Third parties who may receive your personal information as controllers in their own right including (i) employment-related benefit providers; (ii) clients; (iii) consultants and professional advisors including legal advisors and accountants; (iv) courts; (v) business partners and joint ventures; (vi) trade associations and professional bodies (vii) insurers; (viii) governmental departments, statutory and regulatory bodies. 

In case of a legal requirement, PPG may also disclose your personal information and other data to relevant third parties if we are required to do so by law or that disclosing such information is necessary, for instance, in a court proceedings, to enforce a contract or to protect the rights, property or safety or our employees, customers or others.

In the course of corporate transactions, PPG may share your personal information and other data with a third party (and its attorneys, accountants and other relevant parties) in the event that PPG merges with, acquires, is acquired by, or becomes a legal affiliate with such third party, or should such a transaction be proposed.

Security

The security of your personal information is important to PPG. PPG protects personal information by using, implementing, and maintaining industry standard physical, organizational and technological safeguards and security measures that are reasonably designed (appropriate to the sensitivity of such personal information) to help protect against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure or access of personal information in both storage/rest and in transmission. When your personal information is no longer required (as described in this Statement), it is destroyed, anonymized, or otherwise disposed of using secure methods.

Retention

Your personal information will be retained for a limited period of time. The exact period will depend on the laws or regulations we are required to follow, whether we are in a legal dispute with each other or a third party, the type of information we hold about you and whether we are asked by you or a regulatory authority to keep your data for a valid reason.

If we hire you, the information collected about you during the job application process may become part of your personnel file and may be used to administer the employment relationship and for related reporting and recordkeeping purposes.  We will retain this application information for the entire duration of your employment relationship with Us and for as long thereafter as permitted or required by applicable law.  We make our document retention schedule available to employees for review.

If your application has not been successful with us, you may have provided us with consent to keep your personal information for the purpose of job openings with similar qualification requirements. We will periodically review consents and delete the data whenever you have withdrawn your consent or not provided us with renewed consent in the last 12 months.

Your rights and choices

Some local laws provide individuals with specific rights regarding their personal information. These may include a right to access, update, delete/suppress, or object to use of personal information. Please note that if your wish to correct your personal information, please always check first whether it is not possible to do via the recruitment portal. If you are an external candidate and you wish to revoke your consent you can do so at any time by deleting your profile on the PPG Careers application.

If you wish to exercise any other rights available to you under local law, please do so by submitting your request to PPG Privacy Portal. We respond to all request as soon as reasonably practicable and in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

International Transfers

As an international company, PPG may occasionally transfer your personal information throughout PPG’s worldwide organization or to engage third-party service providers based in countries outside of your country of residence. Since privacy law in those countries may not be as comprehensive as those in your country of residence, some regulations require PPG to take additional safeguards prior to the transfers and PPG is committed to comply with such laws.

Changes to this Statement

Both privacy laws and PPG business operations are extremely dynamic in nature. As a result, in the interest of transparency, we reserve the right to make changes to this Statement at any time. We suggest that you check back from time to time in order to understand how we treat your personal information. Our Statement’s effective date will always be set forth at the end. Any changes will be immediately incorporated into this Statement and will be prospective only. We will not make any changes that have retroactive effect unless legally required to do so.      
 
Any change to this Statement is effective immediately. Your continued use of the PPG Careers application or interaction with PPG after any changes are made to this Statement constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If any changes are unacceptable to you, you should delete your profile on PPG’s recruitment portal.
